Kawartha Commons Cohousing is creating a sustainable community at 736 Maryland Avenue in Peterborough, Ontario. We plan to build our unique neighbourhood within the next three years, where approximately 40 families will live in privately-owned apartments clustered around a shared space that encourages spontaneity, connection, and mutual support.

Our community believes in living lightly on this Earth while embracing an active urban life. We all look out for each other in our diverse community, but we don’t compromise our privacy. You can find out more about our values here. In a nutshell, Kawartha Commons is all about sharing, connection, and fun.

If that sounds like you, why not join us?

If you want a little more background on what we’re all about and how our community is coming together, you can read this feature on us that was published in Peterborough Currents, including an interview with two of our members, or this feature that ran in the Toronto Star (there’s more coverage of Kawartha Commons our news page.) In the Peterborough Currents feature, KCC member Aukje Byker describes the appeal of cohousing when she says:

“What I’m looking forward to most is really living in community. I’ll have my own private space, which is great. But I can step out my door and have community.”
